This 1968 UK Hallmark Records vinyl LP (HM 563) is an abridged edition of the original The Greatest Hits of Ike & Tina Turner, first issued by Sue Records in 1965.

Before the huge international success of their later soul and rock performances, Ike & Tina Turner were already a formidable force on the American R&B circuit. These recordings capture the pair at the heart of the early-60s soul movement, with Tina's commanding, emotionally charged vocals set against Ike Turner's distinctive guitar-led arrangements and the powerful sound of the Kings of Rhythm.

The collection opens with “A Fool In Love”, the breakthrough recording that introduced Tina Turner as a major new voice.
